SUBJECT:	UNIVERSITY CONVOCATION ON NOVEMBER 8TH
During the weeks that have followed my selection as Eastern Kentucky University's tenth president, I have worked diligently to listen and learn about the University--its people, its programs, and its impact on Kentucky and the nation. I also have visited with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others who share a love for or an interest in EKU.
What I have discovered has reaffirmed my decision to move to Kentucky to join the Eastern Family.
Now, as I assume the presidency, it is my desire to begin a conversation with the Campus Community about the future of our University. I have scheduled a University-wide convocation Thursday, November 8, at 8 a.m. in Brock Auditorium of the Coates Administration Building.
The decision to call this special meeting at this time was made after careful consideration of several options. I understand that many of you will have to make special arrangements for your first-period class, and I seek your support in doing this so that you and your students can attend.
Please mark your calenders and join me for this special meeting. EKU and Kentucky's system of postsecondary education face unprecedented opportunities and challenges. There is much work to be done. Together, we can accomplish great things.
